How to Read a Crypto Whitepaper Without Getting Lost
A practical checklist for evaluating what a whitepaper claims versus what it proves.
A whitepaper's job is to explain what a project does and why its design choices make sense — it is not, by itself, evidence that the project will succeed or that the token will hold value.
Focus on concrete sections: what problem is being solved, how the token accrues value (if at all), and what the actual technical mechanism is, rather than the marketing language surrounding them.
Cross-check claims against independent sources: is the code public and audited? Does the team have a verifiable track record? Are the tokenomics (supply, unlock schedule, distribution) disclosed in full?
